Just because your little one has outgrown your favorite onesies and t-shirts doesn’t mean you have to part with them! Turn them into a reading throne and help prevent child abuse: $25 from every sale goes to Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center.
Kate Ronan is a local mother and upholsterer. She liked the idea of a child-size chair but didn’t like the bulky or cheap ones, so she made her own. Inspired by the cute fabric from her daughter Faith’s first dress, crib bumpers and some upholstery jobs, Kate created a slip cover. She worked some keepsake onesies into it, slipped it over a foam structure and voila! The result is a whimsical yet classic-looking chair in which Faith still LOVES to sit—and “read”. Faith’s friends like the chair so much, Kate decided to make and sell them—giving a portion of the proceeds to different charities. Looking for the perfect gift for the grandparents to give your child on his/her first birthday? One that will be a favorite and last for years? Here it is!
